Have you tried Quinoa instead of rice?

By Lisa VanWilliams
Another fantastic healthy dinner from my wife Chef Lisa!! So have you tried quinoa instead of rice? If you have not you do not know what you are missing! Even our two year old LOVES it!! It has a different texture and the taste is amazing. Chef Lisa cooked this awesome Carolina country grilled chicken, with steamed fresh (farmers market) broccoli and then put a twist instead of having are usual brown rice, she made up a great new dish of roasted red peppers, fresh grown basil from our garden with quinoa.... Quinoa is a species of "goosefoot". Basically a grain like crop used for its seeds. Its is closely related to spinach on the scientific side of things, but does not taste like spinach. It takes on the flavor of the seasoning you cook it with. It has been around for over 4,000 years according to history. Primarily grown in South America. The biggest exporter of quinoa is Peru. Quinoa has been known to be called a SUPERFOOD. It has a high protein content, great source of fiber, magnesium, IRON and phosphorus. I will be posting the recipes soon so keep checking back......
