Simple Applesauce

By Lisa VanWilliams

What's better than a low-calorie, high fiber snack packed with vitamin C and it even tastes good? APPLESAUCE!!  It's that time of year again and here is an easy recipe with just a few steps that will have your house smelling like a Fall Yankee Candle.

Ingredients:
6 apples peeled and cored
1 cup water
1/3 cup organic cane sugar (or honey, agave, maple syrup) or you can omit sweeteners altogether
1 teaspoon cinnamon (you can also add nutmeg or allspice)
2 cinnamon sticks while cooking

Directions:
Core, peel, and cut your apples.  Add in everything else and cover. Simmer on medium heat. Cook for about an hour or until consistency you like...less time for lumpy applesauce. You can mash some more with a hand masher or food processor when done to desired texture. Taste and add spices as needed. Enjoy!
